In this course, participants learn practical communication skills for high conflict situations involving children and youth in foster care. The course focuses on four important areas, personal safety, mental preparedness, identifying high risk behavior’s and verbal de-escalation techniques. Communication skills learned from this presentation better prepare social workers for difficult and challenging situations with children and youth in foster care.  Flaws in engagement skills as well as human interaction styles for implementing effective positive communication are also highlighted.
